Learn. Grow. Inspire.
Rebirth Engineering CIC is a new kind of engineering organisation — built to restore confidence, skill, and purpose through hands-on creation.
We use real engineering projects — including the rebuild of a Porsche 911 — as rolling classrooms where neurodivergent and underrepresented people learn by doing, not sitting still. In our workshops, students don’t just study engineering — they become engineers.
Through inclusive maker spaces, guided courses, and industry-led projects, we develop:
- Technical skill in mechanical, automotive, and manufacturing engineering
- Confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving under pressure
- Professional workshop standards and pride in craft
From entry-level hands-on courses to advanced design, fabrication, and motorsport-inspired projects, Rebirth Engineering creates pathways into further education, apprenticeships, and engineering careers — while building a community that values precision, creativity, and belonging.
We don’t just rebuild machines.
We rebuild people.

Our Services
Rebirth Engineering delivers hands-on engineering education, technical training, and project-based learning, alongside high-quality engineering-led content creation designed to inspire, educate, and engage.
Our work is built on one core belief: engineering is best learned by doing — and best shared by showing.
Engineering Education & Training
We deliver small-group, practical engineering sessions focused on:
- Mechanical engineering fundamentals
- Workshop skills and safe equipment use
- Design for manufacture and assembly
- Materials, tolerances, and real-world problem solving
Our sessions are specifically designed to support neurodivergent learners, young people, and those who thrive outside traditional classroom environments.
Project-Based Learning Programmes
Participants work on real engineering projects — from mechanical systems to full vehicle assemblies — gaining:
- Hands-on technical experience
- Confidence using professional tools and processes
- Teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Insight into real engineering careers and pathways
Projects are structured to mirror industry practice, not classroom theory.
Outreach & Skills Development
We collaborate with universities, colleges, schools, and community organisations to deliver outreach programmes that:
- Inspire underrepresented groups into engineering
- Provide alternative routes into technical education and employment
- Build confidence, purpose, and progression
Video Marketing & Engineering Content Creation
Rebirth Engineering produces high-quality engineering-focused media that documents real projects, teaching sessions, and technical processes.
This includes:
- Educational engineering content
- Workshop and project documentation
- Skills-based demonstrations and breakdowns
- Branded content for partners and sponsors
Our content is used to:
- Inspire future engineers
- Improve public understanding of engineering
- Showcase partners, sponsors, and collaborators
- Extend the reach and impact of our educational work
Technical Consultancy & Prototyping (Future Services)
As the organisation develops, Rebirth Engineering will expand into:
- Prototype design and manufacture
- Mechanical consultancy

About us
Rebirth Engineering is a Scottish-based social enterprise built to redefine how engineering is taught, experienced, and shared.
Founded by a practising mechanical engineer and educator, Rebirth Engineering exists to open doors into engineering for people who don’t fit the traditional academic mould — particularly neurodivergent individuals, young people from working-class backgrounds, and those who learn best through hands-on, practical experience.
At its core, Rebirth Engineering combines real engineering projects, professional workshop standards, and inclusive teaching methods to create an environment where confidence, competence, and curiosity can grow together.
Our Philosophy
We believe:
- Engineering is best learned by doing, not just studying
- Talent exists everywhere — opportunity does not
- Real projects build real confidence
- Practical skill, creativity, and discipline are as valuable as theory
By removing unnecessary barriers and focusing on craft, problem-solving, and ownership, we help people discover what they’re capable of.
What Makes Us Different
Rebirth Engineering is not a classroom simulation — it’s real engineering.
Participants work with:
- Industry-standard tools and processes
- Genuine mechanical systems and assemblies
- Live projects with real outcomes
Our flagship projects, including the transformation of a Porsche 911 into a rolling engineering platform, act as living classrooms — engaging learners while showcasing engineering excellence, precision, and discipline.
Community, Education & Impact
Rebirth Engineering works in partnership with:
- Universities and colleges
- Community organisations and outreach programmes
- Engineering and automotive industry partners
Together, we deliver:
- Skills development and employability pathways
- Confidence-building experiences
- Inspiration for the next generation of engineers
Any income generated through commercial activity is reinvested directly into education, outreach, and community programmes, ensuring sustainable impact.
Our Vision
Our long-term vision is to build a network of inclusive engineering workshops and learning spaces — places where people feel they belong, can develop meaningful skills, and gain access to real engineering careers.
Rebirth Engineering stands for craft, resilience, inclusion, and ambition — proving that engineering is not reserved for the few, but built by the many.

Our Team

Jack Birt
Founder / CEO
Jack Birt is a Mechanical Engineer and educator based in Edinburgh, currently working as a Mechanical Engineering Laboratory Technician at Heriot-Watt University. His journey into engineering was not a conventional one — shaped by neurodiversity, perseverance, and a deep passion for hands-on problem-solving.
After progressing through college and university against the odds, Jack has become a strong advocate for inclusive engineering education, supporting hundreds of students through practical teaching, mentorship, and real-world engineering projects. His work focuses on bridging the gap between theory and practice, and creating environments where people learn by doing.
Rebirth Engineering was founded to give others the opportunities Jack wished had existed earlier in his own journey — combining ambitious engineering projects, professional workshop standards, and genuine community support. Through Rebirth Engineering, Jack is building an organisation that proves engineering excellence and social impact can, and should, go hand in hand.
